Benelli Imperiale 400 launch has been delayed in India due to heavy localisation.
Benelli is focussing hard on the Imperiale 400 for India launch. The Italian bike maker is targeting the Royal Enfield Classic 350 with the Imperiale 400. They are localising the bike heavily for an attractive price tag to compete with the Indian bike maker.
The Imperiale 400 is expected to be one of the most affordable motorcycles in the Benelli India lineup. The bike is expected to get a lot of volumes for Benelli in India. The motorcycle was expected to be launched in India by early 2020. However, the launch is likely to get delayed further.
Benelli HQ has asked their Indian partner to do a proper groundwork before launching the bike. The company is speaking to a few suppliers as they are planning to localise some major components of the bike to get the price on point.
First showcased at the EICMA 2017, the Benelli Imperiale 400 was spotted testing in Pune recently. The bike is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 20.4 BHP at 5500 RPM and 28 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM. It gets 300 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc. It is likely to get dual-channel ABS as standard when launched.
