Bajaj Triumph-Alliance
Both companies are yet to sign a formal agreement

Pune-based Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles announced plans to co-develop vehicles in August 2017 but are yet to sign a formal agreement. Amidst rife speculation that the collaboration has headed for a splitsville, two top officials of the British company have rubbished all claims.

Instead, Triumph has already conducted early testing on prototype models under the collaboration and Bajaj Auto chief Rajiv Bajaj has visited the Triumph headquarters in Hinckley, the United Kingdom 3 weeks ago to check on the product development.

Products produced under the Triumph-Bajaj collaboration will appear in the market by 2022. The agreement will be royalty-based in which both the companies will retain their intellectual property rights there will be no cross-shareholding either way. As part of the agreement, the companies will develop multiple middle-weight motorcycles on a new engine platform which will be then manufactured by Bajaj and marketed by Triumph in India.

The Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles will rival Royal Enfield, the current ruler of the 300-500cc motorcycle market in India. Bajaj will market the products in countries where it has sales operations and Triumph does not and Triumph will sell them in countries where it has a better sales network.
