Bajaj has now showcased the new Pulsar 200 SS in Indonesia after showing it to dealers in Turkey last year. This model gets ABS.
Bajaj will be launching the 200 SS in India in the first half of 2015. The company has displayed the bike in Indonesia along with the Pulsar 200 AS (Adventure Sports). The bike looks attractive and Bajaj is highly optimistic about the success of this product. Bajaj won’t be cutting costs with the 200 SS and it will come with a fuel injection system. We earlier reported that there will be no ABS offered with the bike, but now looking at the fresh set of pictures, we can certainly expect Bajaj to provide ABS as an option.
Powering the Bajaj 200 SS will be the same 199.5cc single-cylinder engine with triple-spark technology. It will give out a maximum power of 24.4 PS. On the styling front, the 200 SS resembles the 400 SS to a very large extent. The red and white colour scheme looks dashing and lends a sporty touch to the bike. However, the pillion seat of the 200 SS is not very comfortable. Bajaj will load the bike with features like projector headlights and LED DRLs.
Most of the components on the 200 SS will be shared with the 200 NS including engine, chassis, instrument panel, etc. with minor changes expected for improved handling. We can expect Bajaj to price the Pulsar 200 SS at Rs. 1.35 lakhs and it will certainly be a good option to other bikes available in the same price range like the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R. The company has delayed the launch time and again but the 200 SS is finally set to go on sale in India in March. It will be Bajaj’s first launch in the full faired motorcycle category.
