The Bajaj Pulsar series is all set to get a new version with the Pulsar SS200 that will be launched by the end of this year. And now the test mule was spotted near Bajaj’s Chakan plant near Pune. The Pulsar SS200 is the full-faired version of the flagship 200 NS motorcycle and will be the flagship Pulsar, till the SS400 arrives later this year and the CS400 is put into production next year. One can notice the bike sports a proper exhaust instead of an underbelly unit.
The Pulsar SS200 sports a design language from the larger SS400 concept, that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi last month. The fully faired version gets dual projector headlamps, a sharp design, split seats, clip-on handle bars, the rear tyre hugger from the 200 NS and a tall windscreen. Essentially the bike will look like a smaller version of the Pulsar SS400.
The Pulsar 200 SS is most likely to feature a fuel injected system on the 200cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the Pulsar 200 NS. The engine will be tuned to offer around 25 PS of power and 18.5 Nm of torque, which will be needed to counter the additional weight of the fairing.
The Pulsar SS200 will carry telescopic front forks and a monoshock setup at the rear, while ABS is most likely to be offered as optional. Bajaj would want to make sure that the Pulsar SS200 will be a far better motorcycle than its naked sibling. The bike will offer a sporty riding position, better performance as well as stopping power. The company is most likely to price the motorcycle at a premium of Rs. 30,000/- more than the 200 NS. The 200 SS will be locking horns with the upcoming mildly updated Yamaha YZF-R15 and the Honda CBR150R. The launch is set for May.
