The Bajaj Pulsar is a hot favourite among thieves, they prefer black colour.
The Bajaj Pulsar has been a hit among young bike enthusiasts in India. But now it seems the Pulsar series have won the hearts of bike thieves too. According to the police, the Pulsar 150cc and 180cc are the most stolen bikes, especially in black colour.
A police officer said we would mostly recover two-wheelers like Yamaha RX100 and Hero Splendor from thieves but in recent times we are recovering a higher number of Pulsar bikes, nearly 40 to 50 percent. Bajaj has sold around 90,000 units of the Pulsar series in the month of September. This is the reason why thieves find them easy to camouflage and dispose them immediately.
An officer from CID said that the engines of the stolen bikes were being smuggled across the border to Bangladesh. These engines are used to run motorised boats known as Bhutbhuti in Bangladesh. The motorcycles like the Bajaj Pulsar have a powerful engine that generates 13 to 17 BHP which is enough to power a boat.
The other reason is to sell the bikes to youngsters in the city, especially college students for between Rs. 3000/- to Rs. 5000/-. Some professional bike lifters dispose the bikes in the neighbouring states. There are few garages who specialise in giving a completely different look to a stolen bike within a matter of minutes.
