Bajaj Auto has given the Pulsar 200 NS a fuel injection system, the same has been updated on the company’s global website. Going forward, Bajaj Auto will only sell the Pulsar 200 NS with fuel injection, ditching the carburettor in favour of the more efficient system. This means the Pulsar 200 NS sold in India will solely be offered with a FI system, which will boost the efficiency of this value for money motorcycle. The Pulsar 200 NS’ 199.5cc, 4-valve, triple spark plug motor with the FI unit is called TriTec.
While this isn’t the first time Bajaj Auto is going FI on the Pulsar, this will certainly be the first time fuel injection will be available in volumes for the Pulsar brand. When Bajaj Auto launched the Pulsar 220 FI, more than 5 years back, it sold very limited numbers since issues were rampant with the bike and the service technicians weren’t able to cope up with the problems being faced by customers. However Bajaj has started exporting the Pulsar 200 NS FI which means the bike has been tested and ready for sale.
Today, the scene at Bajaj Auto is very different. FI is no big deal and Bajaj already manufactures the KTM Duke 200 and 390 models, both of which use fuel injection. The standard Pulsar 200 NS (with a carburettor) produces 23.52 PS of power at 9500 RPM and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. The model with FI hasn’t got any hike in output and produces the very same power and torque at the identical RPM. A price hike of Rs. 7000/- is expected on the Pulsar 200 NS when it is offered with fuel injection in India. The 200 SS will come with FI from day one and hence Bajaj Auto has been busy testing the motorcycle extensively. The 200 SS isn’t likely to get more power over the 200 NS.
