The Pulsar 200 AS or Adventure Sport is based on the 200 NS and comes with a half fairing, and could be a perpetual successor to the 220F.
Ever heard of the Pulsar 200 “AS”? We neither. But apparently there is such a thing in Indonesia and Bajaj pulled in a big surprise as it showcased the Pulsar 200 AS or Adventure Sport in the country for the first time. As the name suggests, the 200 AS comes from the 200 NS family and would be the third model to be based on the platform apart from the soon to be launched 200 SS. Showcased recently at an event alongside the upcoming 200 SS, the bike could be first launched in the South East Asian country.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Pulsar 200 NS, the 200 AS comes with an aggressively styled half fairing (like on the 220F), a tweaked headlight cluster with integrated projector light and a larger windscreen to differentiate it from the regular model. The bike continues with the existing set-up and design throughout with no changes to the body panels or alloy wheels otherwise. Bajaj is likely to market the 200 AS as an adventure tourer that will continue to come with the same 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that uses a carburettor as evident by the fuel reserve knob on the left side.
While there have been no confirmed reports on the launch of the Bajaj Pulsar 200 AS in India in the future, the bike could be a potential replacement to the very well selling 220F half-faired version. Based on the previous generation Pulsar, the 220F still manages to do consistently well and the 200 AS could take the baton forward. Bajaj had announced that it will be launching 6 new products over the next 6 months in the country and there could be a possibility of the 200 AS being part of that list. Do you like the new half faired Pulsar?
