Bajaj Auto launched the Discover 100M yesterday and now the company’s focus is likely to shift to its flagship brand, the Pulsar. It’s no secret that Bajaj Auto is working on two new Pulsars for launch later this year. One would be a sub 200cc Pulsar while the other would be the fastest Pulsar yet, that too significantly faster than the 200 NS. The sub 200cc Pulsar seems to be doing the test rounds on the outskirts of Pune as the Pulsar 200 NS look alike motorcycle was recently spotted.
Now this bike can either be an improved Pulsar 200 NS, probably carrying a fuel injection system or it might be a Pulsar 180 NS, which takes all design and hardware from the 200 NS. Most likely, it’s the latter and since the test mules are now being openly spotted, we feel the launch is around the corner, right in time for the festive season. The Pulsar 375 is a full faired machine which seems to take heavy design inspiration from the Energica EGO electric bike. The P375 will share engine components with the Duke 390.
The upcoming Pulsar 180 NS might not replace the current Pulsar 180 although we feel that would be a sensible option considering the small price gap to keep both models on sale. The 180 NS is likely to feature a 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine (3 spark plugs, maybe) which produces around 19 BHP of power and 16 Nm of torque. It is going to be underpinned by a perimeter frame, boasting of 50:50 weight distribution. The 6-speed gearbox will do cog shifting duties while the tyres and brakes will be the same size as the 200 NS. Expect the Pulsar 180 NS to be priced around Rs. 85,000/- with the bike competing with the TVS Apache 180.
