Bajaj Platina ES Spec Comparison With Other 100cc Bikes

The new Bajaj Platina ES comes with a refreshed design, updated DTS-i engine, new chassis and electric start.

The new Platina produces 8.2 PS of power from the new 102cc DTS-i motor

Bringing its slew of products for 2015, Bajaj Auto launched its first offering the new 2015 Platina ES 100cc commuter priced at Rs. 44,507/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). Betting big on the all-new model, the automaker is optimistic that the new Platina will be able to give a tough fight to its established contemporaries in the same space which include offerings from Hero MotoCorp, TVS and Honda that have been ruling the roost for ages now.

One of the biggest USP’s of the new Bajaj Platina ES is the fuel efficiency figure which stands at an ARAI certified 96.9 km/l (old model returned 89.9 km/l). In comparison, the Hero Splendor is rated to offer a fuel economy of around 65 km/l while the Honda CD 110 Dream returns 74 km/l. In terms of power output too, the Platina ES is the second most powerful offering in the segment with 8.2 PS and 8.6 Nm of torque from a 102cc twin-spark engine; whereas the CD 110 Dream is the most powerful with 8.4 PS and 8.6 Nm of torque from a 109cc engine. Extracting more power from a smaller engine surely gives the Platina a slight edge over its rivals.

Bajaj also states that the new Platina ES is amongst the longest bikes in the segment while its best in class ground clearance of 190 mm makes the bike capable of handling all kind of roads. The commuter also boasts of several other credentials including the longest seat, double spring shocks for added comfort and 3-inch wide tyres for additional road grip. As Bajaj puts it, the Platina ES also boasts of a solid build quality over its rivals that ensures the commuter’s survival over all terrains.

Bajaj is making sure to leave no stone unturned with the new Platina ES and has priced the commuter very competitively against its rivals. The Hero Splendor turns out to be the most expensive here at Rs. 46,750/-; while the Hero HF Deluxe manages to cut through the competition at Rs. 42,100/-. The TVS Star Sport seems to be priced a little high now at Rs. 45,010/-, whereas the Honda CD 110 Dream is the least expensive of the lot at Rs. 41,270/-, but also misses out on the electric start option.
