Bajaj Auto will be launching a range of bikes in the 100cc-400cc segment and now the 2015 Platina 100 ES has been spotted at a dealership in Mangalore.
The two-wheeler market is flooded with commuter bikes from every major manufacturer, and Bajaj who is revamping its product line-up does not want to be left behind. The Platina commuter bike will be getting some updates and the 2015 100 ES model has been spotted at a dealership. First of all, the Platina 100 ES gets cosmetic changes that make the new model look better than the current version. The front visor has been redesigned for better aerodynamics.
The bike also gets some new body panels which change the look of the product. The exhaust pipe too is a new unit. While the current Platina gets clear turn indicators, the new model gets orange lens for the indicators. The rear of the new model is quite similar to the current Platina apart from the fact that the 2015 variants will get a body-coloured grab bar unlike the current version. The instrument cluster is carried forward from the older model but the background has been changed from black to white.
The 2015 Bajaj Platina 100 ES gets a 102cc DTSi engine producing 8.2 PS of power and 8.6 Nm of torque. Mated to a 4-speed transmission, the engine’s top speed is 90 km/hr and it returns an ARAI-approved fuel efficiency of 96.9 km/l. The bike will be available in a single variant with self-start option and will be offered in a choice of three colours – Ebony Black, Electron Blue and Candy Red. The new Platina will be sold along side the current Platina with a premium of Rs. 4500/-. Bajaj will launch the bike in February, priced at Rs. 54,000/- (on-road, Mangalore).
