Bajaj is all set to launch the Bajaj Platina 100 ES Disc variant in the coming days and the disc variant will be available only for the Electric Start variant. The price of the disc brake variant got revealed and there’s an expected bump in it as compared to the drum variant.
The Bajaj Platina 100 Disc Variant will retail at Rs. 59,373/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). This price is roughly Rs. 4000/- more than the ongoing BS6 drum variant which retails at Rs. 55,546/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The disc variant of the Bajaj Platina 100 will share the same powerhouse as the drum variant. This BS6 compliant 102cc, single-cylinder engine produces 7.77 BHP at 7500 RPM and 8.34 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. The transmission is a 4-speed gearbox and Bajaj claims the top speed to be around 90 km/hr.
For the price, the Bajaj Platina offers a halogen headlamp with LED DRL, tinted visor, long suspension travel and spring soft seat for comfortable ride quality. The Bajaj Platina remains one of the best commuter bikes in India and people also claim it to be one of the most practically fuel-efficient motorcycles ever built.
In conclusion, we think the Rs. 4000/- bump in the price tag is justified for the Bajaj Platina 100 ES Disc Variant as the new braking setup will improve the overall safety aspect of the motorcycle. We would’ve also liked the addition of ABS to it, though.
