Bajaj has launched the Platina 100 ES disc brake model with a price tag of Rs. 60,698/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is about Rs. 2200/- costlier than the ES drum brake variant of the commuter motorcycle.
Also, the new variant’s price is over Rs. 10,000/- costlier than the Platina 100 KS Alloy that currently retails at Rs. 50,464/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it the top-of-the-line model at the moment.
As befits the name, the slightly higher Platina 100 ES disc price will get customers a 240 mm rotor at the front, while the rear still uses a 110 mm drum setup with anti-skid braking system.
The inclusion of the disc and the brake calipers have increased the weight of the Platina 100 ES disc by 1.5 kg and overall, the motorcycle weighs 119 kgs.
The engine has not changed on the Platina, thus the 102cc single-cylinder unit that makes 7.9 PS and 8.3 Nm, continues to do duty on the bike and it is still mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
Despite the new variant’s price being higher, it still gets just two colour options – red and black, while other features such as LED DRL, alloy wheels, etc are also present.
