Bajaj will be bringing a new Pulsar on 14th April and plans to launch a new offering in the sports segment in the May-June and July period.
Bajaj Auto has finally set things on track for 2015 with the Pulsar RS 200 hitting the floors. Having witnessed a major downward trend in sales, the Pune-based manufacturer is optimistic that these new set of launches for the year including the new Platina ES and CT 100 will be major volume pullers for the company. Expanding further on its plans, Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, said that the manufacturer will be launching an all-new Pulsar on 14th April in the country.
With the RS 200 already launched, we reckon that the upcoming Pulsar will be the 200 AS (Adventure Sport) that also commenced production alongside the fully faired RS early last month. Sharing its underpinnings with the Pulsar 200 NS, the 200 AS will be slotted between the 200 NS and RS 200 with the price expected around Rs. 1 lakh. Differentiating it from the other models, the bike gets a half fairing, single projector headlamp, tall windscreen and a conventional mudguard to make it more tourer friendly. In terms of power, the 199.5cc will continue to do duty on the 200 AS in the carburetted avatar.
Coming to the issue of plummeting sales, Bajaj says that the entry-level CT 100 and Platina ES 100 have been well received and the numbers have been growing steadily as well. The company sold a cumulative 35,000 units in January and post the launch of the two new products, sales increased to 41,000 units in February and up to 60,000 units in March. In the sports segment, Bajaj currently has a 43 percent market share and the automaker plans to improve on it with the slew of new launches. Apart from the 200 AS, Bajaj will also launch the Pulsar 150 NS and 150 AS this year.
