Bajaj Dominar 400 Non-ABS Discontinued

Bajaj Dominar 400 Matte Black Launched

Citing low sales and a new government mandate, the Dominar 400 non-ABS variant has been removed from the company’s website as well.

The Dominar 400 has the same engine as the KTM Duke 390, but tuned to fit its cruiser character

The Dominar 400, Bajaj Auto’s representative in the competition against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, has been received well by the Indian biker community since its launch in 2016. The bike brought with it a set of impressive features and a competitive price to go with it. But now, Bajaj Auto has discontinued the non-ABS variant of the bike. The reasons behind this are poor sales numbers and changing government safety regulations.

The non-ABS variant has seen much lesser sales than the ABS variant. This is because the two are priced at comparable rates. The dual-channel ABS variant has seen almost 80 percent of Indian buyers going for it as the price makes sense for the added safety of the rider. The government has also passed a mandate issuing all bike manufacturers to include an ABS system to their bikes which have a displacement above 125cc.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a 373cc, single cylinder, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel injected engine. With a liquid cooling system, this engine is coupled with a 6-speed transmission which is important since the bike was launched to compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The engine can dish out a maximum power of 34.5 BHP and a peak torque of 35 Nm.

While the Dominar 400 could not beat the Royal Enfield Classic 350 in terms of demand, it is indeed placed in the market as a real value-for-money bike. The upcoming Dominar 400 to launch in 2019 is expected to be priced a little higher than the outgoing variant.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Non-ABS

– Government mandate to fit all bikes above 125cc with ABS
– Less numbers of the non-ABS variant sold as compared to ABS variant
– New Dominar 400 expected to launch in early 2019

The Dominar 400 ABS variant has seen more sales than the non-ABS unit because of comparable prices
