Bajaj Auto has preponed the launch of world’s first CNG motorcycle

Bajaj Auto has announced plans to introduce the world’s first compressed natural gas (CNG) bike in the upcoming quarter. Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of the company, confirmed this development.

Rajiv Bajaj highlighted the versatility of the CNG bike, which will be available in various displacement options ranging from 100cc to 150-160cc, offering consumers a wider portfolio to choose from.

This initiative marks a significant milestone globally as Bajaj Auto pioneers the integration of a CNG cylinder within a motorcycle, presenting a viable alternative to traditional fuel-powered two-wheelers.

In addition to the CNG bike, Bajaj Auto is experiencing strong growth with the Chetak electric scooter. Rajiv Bajaj noted the robust year-on-year monthly growth, indicating a strong consumer interest in electric mobility solutions. Plans are underway to introduce a new Chetak offering in the next quarter, with production expected to double to 20,000 units per month to meet growing demand.

The company’s collaboration with Triumph motorcycles is also gaining momentum, with plans to deliver up to 10,000 units per month by the festive season. Expansion of production capacity to 30,000 units per quarter.

Looking ahead, Bajaj Auto hinted at the launch of the largest Pulsar model ever in early FY25, emphasising a strategic shift towards ‘super-segmentation’ over premiumisation.
