The 2017 Bajaj Chetak will carry an all new avatar with major cosmetic and feature updates.
Bajaj, being one of the icons within the Indian motorcycle market, has been calm with its scooter offerings for a few years. The company had been much busy in expanding the Pulsar line-up introducing many versions back to back. But now in what comes as a pleasant news, a legendary scooter from Bajaj, the Chetak is all set to break covers and hit dealerships from 2017.
The potential of the Indian scooter market has been growing with passing days. With the introduction of many new mopeds, various brands are fetching a great profit from them. Bajaj had witnessed the urge of efficient scooters within Indian buyers and decided to put its retro scooter with a modernisation into the market.
Great comfort, being maintenance friendly and ample storage space were the prime qualities which the Chetak had possessed. The new generation of this gearless offering from Bajaj will carry the same qualities in a contemporary fashion. The engine capacity of the Chetak could be guessed between 125-150cc, looking at its rivals, the Aprilia SR 150 and the Piaggio Vespa. Power delivery would also be competitive in its segment with a figure of more than 10 BHP. However, the mileage, for which Indian buyers are most worried about, could be expected to be more than 45 km/l.
As we can figure out by the images, every bit of the new generation Bajaj Chetak has been beautified by using premium quality material. The seat design has been overhauled with a modern touch, the handle bar looks good with a relaxed riding stance. The height of the wheels has been increased with a nice set of alloys. Other cosmetic changes are also expected to provide an upmarket scooter feel. A bunch of updated electronic equipment is also quite obvious to be fitted into the upcoming Chetak.
