German automaker Audi will be launching the TT Roadster in India and the same has been patented too. The launch will happen most likely at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Audi launched the TT Coupe in India earlier this year and the vehicle impressed with its looks and performance. In global markets, the TT also has a Roadster version and now it has come to light that this model will make to Indian shores too. While filing the patent for the TT coupe, Audi also filed one for the roadster which leads us to this conclusion. The Audi TT Roadster will be a good choice for someone who wants a performance-packed convertible but doesn’t want to spend more than Rs. 1 crore.
On the looks front, the Audi TT Roadster is very similar to its coupe counterpart and the most significant difference is obviously the folding roof-top. The front fascia remains similar while the rear of the car is also more or less the same. The vehicle gets a soft-top which comes in black colour and it adds that nice sporty touch to the vehicle when the roof is covered. With the top down, the TT Roadster looks quite gorgeous.
On the insides, again the dashboard, features and other controls are similar to the TT coupe. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine that pumps out 220 HP of power and 350 Nm of twist and the engine is complimented by a 6-speed S-Tronic transmission. The vehicle comes with quattro and power is sent to all four wheels. The TT Roadster also gets features like full LED headlights, acoustic folding roof, Audi virtual cockpit and MMI Radio Plus with 9 speakers.
The Audi TT Coupe is priced at Rs. 60.34 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) so we expect the TT Roadster to be priced at approximately Rs. 65 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The TT Roadster will compete with the BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK and Porsche Boxster. While the SLK and Z4 are available under the Rs. 1 crore mark, the Boxster is a bit more pricier compared to its rivals. We can expect Audi to launch the Roadster at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo.
