After the launch of the Audi RS5 today, the German automaker is ready to confound the luxury saloon segment buyers with the launch of its breathtaking model, S6, on 12th of this month. The Audi S6 is a performance version of the regular A6 saloon and will be the fastest saloon on offering from the German stable post its launch. We have already reported in May that the launch of the S6 is due for July, which was confirmed by the company today at the RS5 launch event in Mumbai. The body design of the Audi S6 will be similar to the regular A6, however several exterior tweaks will be seen on the model.
The S-specific type single frame grille, 19-inch alloy wheels with black brake callipers, aluminium-optic mirror housing, quad exhaust at the rear with the integrated spoiler and the āSā badge on the boot will bespeak the destructive nature of the S6. The Audi S6 will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8, TFSI twin-turbocharged petrol engine that generates a monstrous peak power of 420 PS and an impressive torque of 550 Nm which starts building from a low 1400 RPM and goes all the way up to 5200 RPM. The transmission will be S tronic, 7-speed automatic synchronised with Audi quattro system that transfers the power to all four wheels.
The interior of the Audi S6 will be in black theme to evoke the sporty sense of the vehicle with 8 airbags and 8-inch MMI navigation system. The S6 will reach Indian shores as a CBU unit that makes the certain possibility of the model to be priced around Rs. 80 lakhs. In India, the BMW M5 is the existing contender of the S6 but M5 is a big-ticket performance saloon with a price tag of Rs. 1.13 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi) and if Audi will price the S6 around the aforementioned amount, it will succeed to lure performance seeking customers.
