The 2016 Audi Q7 is slated for a world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show next month, while the Indian launch is expected later in 2015.
India has a strong affinity towards luxury SUVs and the first generation Q7 has been on the receiving end for the same throughout the past years. This is something even Audi understands very well and has commenced testing the new generation 2016 Q7 in the country extensively, while its official launch is expected around mid-2015. Already revealed in images, the luxury SUV was spotted testing in Mumbai for the first time wearing heavy camouflage, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show next month.
Gracing a more leaner and sharper look, the 2016 Audi Q7 is more compact than its predecessor in terms of dimensions but sports a larger wheelbase and has more cabin space to offer. The new model has also shed a healthy 325 kgs over the outgoing model with extensive use of aluminium in its construction. Seen in the images are the new Matrix LED headlights on Audi’s flagship SUV that comes with newly shaped LED daytime running lights, while the rear gets sleek LED tail lights and very sporty twin exhausts. On the inside, Audi’s flagship SUV will get the updated MMI infotainment system, 3D audio system as well as Apple CarPlay and Google Play support.
In terms of powertrain, Audi India will be launching the 2016 Q7 with two engine options on offer including the 3.0-litre TDI diesel and TFSI petrol engines with All-Wheel Drive as standard, paired to the new 8-speed automatic transmission. The Ingolstadt based giant will continue to bring the new Q7 via the CKD route which should help keep the prices a bit competitive as the SUV will be locking horns against rivals Mercedes GL-Class, BMW X5 and the likes in the segment. Prices are expected to start around Rs. 75 lakhs (ex-showroom) when launched in the country later next year. Make sure to checkout the 2016 Audi Q7 in action in the video below.
