Audi India has announced the launch of the S4 today. The German automaker was running a promotional campaign called as ‘Vote for S4′ on facebook and has received tremendous response from fans, enabling them to launch the Audi S4 so quickly. The S-range of Audi cars are not the equivalent of the AMG or M range of cars from Mercedes-Benz and BMW respectively. Instead, the S-range is the mildly tuned version of cars from Audi, while the RS-range is the equivalent to Mercedes’ AMG and BMW’s M.
The Audi S4 is powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine which produces 333 HP of peak power output and 440 Nm of peak torque output. This gives the S4 strong performance, with the car reaching 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds. The Audi S4 is electronically limited to 250 km/h and even with such performance the vehicle returns a respectable mileage of 10.34 km/l as per ARAI. The S4 is brought to India via the CBU route but still Audi has pulled out a very aggressive pricing. The Audi S4 is priced at Rs. 44.31 lakhs (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
The engine is mated to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox and power is delivered to all 4-wheels via the quattro system Other than the more powerful engine, the Audi S4 also features slightly updated front end with new bumpers. The front grille is finished in platinum gray and features the S4 badge. The car also features a lowered body by 20 mm with 18-inch wheels, which gives the vehicle sporty driving dynamics. The Audi S4 also has a leather steering wheel, aluminum inserts, xenon plus headlights and S4 badges on the steering-wheel and seats.
