The RS6 Avant Performance has been made to bring together, practicality and performance.
Sports cars have generally not been of the most practical types. Their two-seat configuration and a puny boot size simply isn’t meant for a family that wants to drive to their vacation destination. But Audi has come out with a solution with their RS6 Avant Performance model. The car is big on space and comfort and can still give thoroughbred sports cars a run for their money. The RS6 Avant Performance has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 1.65 crores (ex-showroom). So what do you get for this price?
Let’s begin with the engine. Powering the Audi RS6 Avant Performance is a 4.0-litre, TFSI, twin-turbo, V8 engine that produces 596.7 HP and 750 Nm of peak torque using its overboost function. This means that the power output has increased by 36.7 HP while the peak torque has increased by 50 Nm compared to the regular Audi RS6 Avant. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox that sends power to all the four wheels using Audi’s quattro system. This gives the station wagon a 0-100 km/hr time of 3.7 seconds. The engine can even shut down four of its eight cylinders for when you want to drive it in a laid back manner.
On the features front, the Audi RS6 Avant Performance gets the RS braking system with wave brake discs on the front and rear axles. The car sits on stunning looking 21-inch cast aluminium wheels which have a wide contact patch for that extra grip. The RS multifunction steering wheel which is wrapped in leather gives the driver that sporty feel. The front has Audi’s trademark LED headlamps and big air inlets to cool the engine. The rear gets LED taillights and a chrome tipped sports exhaust system.
Other features are Audi’s Dynamic Ride Control, self-locking centre differential and adaptive air suspension. To keep the car stable and passengers safe, it also comes with electronic stability program (ESP).
At Rs. 1.65 crores (ex-showroom), the Audi RS6 Avant Performance isn’t exactly cheap. But it does offer an excellent package for those who want sports car like performance but don’t want to compromise on space and practicality.
