Audi has launched the limited edition Audi R8 LMX in India, which makes it the first production car in our country with laser high beam lighting technology. It uses the combination of LED and laser high beam lighting and this technology was seen for the first time on the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Audi R8 LMX is a limited edition offering and only 99 examples are made globally by the German automaker. It is priced at Rs. 2.97 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi/Mumbai).

The Audi R8 LMX comes with laser beam lights, which are activated at speeds above 60 km/hr and offer an illumination range of up to 500 metres. No, it won’t harm the oncoming road users because it comes equipped with a camera based sensor system that actively adjusts the light pattern to avoid dazzle. The special edition Audi R8 comes with a fixed rear spoiler for better downforce and to boost the appeal of the car, it gets matt carbon, titanium grey and high-gloss black finish on various exterior elements. The R8 LMX gets an exclusive Ara Blue crystal effect paint finish.
The interiors are dark, finished with Alcantara and Nappa leather trims contrasting with blue diamond pattern stitching. It is the most powerful Audi R8 ever and is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine that churns out 570 BHP of power and 540 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission. The supercar has the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and 0-100 km/hr sprint is achieved in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 320 km/hr. The 19-inch wheels get carbon ceramic discs and red anodised brake callipers.
