Small is the new and Renault, Ford and Hyundai, it is Audi’s chance to show the world it can make a compact SUV. A few days ago news of Audi considering an SUV based on the A1 hatchback trickled in. This would be positioned right below the Q3 and would be the entry level SUV from the Audi stable. No confirmation has happened on the same but MotorBeam rendering specialist was quick to come up with his version of the Audi Q1 Compact SUV. As can be seen, the front resembles the A1 to a large extent and the rest of the body follows the form of the Q3. Visually, the Audi Q1 looks really small, with dimensions quite similar to the Ford EcoSport.
Audi has not yet conveyed its intentions to put this into production any time soon but when they do so, it will be powered by the tried and tested series of TDI and TFSI engines. Audi could use the cost advantage of Volkswagen to develop the Q1 and price it very aggressively. Even if they do manage to pull out a stunner of the Q1, then we can expect the starting point to the brand will become lower, giving many fans a chance to own an Audi.
