The festive season in India might be over but the country is still celebrating a festival of its own kind. A festival in the name of a car? Yes it is. Audi has launched a celebration edition of the A4 model to boost up sales. This offer comes as the company is just striking distance away to create a milestone. Audi has sold 1002 cars only in the month of October with a growth rate of 18%. Audi India is expecting to sell 10,000 cars this financial year, which would make them the first company to achieve this feat in the premium luxury segment. Presently Audi holds a majority share in the premium car segment after beating BMW in April this year.
The Audi A4 Celebration Edition is priced at Rs. 25.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The company also said that it is a limited edition run of 500 units. Unfortunately the car is available only in one variant which has a 2.0-litre TDI engine producing 140 PS under the hood. Audi has removed some equipment and the A4 celebration edition doesn’t come with sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, powered mirrors, wood trims on dashboard, powered co-driver’s seat, front parking sensor and rear view camera. With these changes Audi has managed to cut down the A4’s price by a whopping Rs. 6 lakhs when compared to the regular A4’s base version. With this price bandwidth, Audi has penetrated deeper into the markets of Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Audi presently has 29 showrooms across the country and is expecting to end up with 34 showrooms by the end of this year. With this growth rate, Audi has all reasons to expand its market to the maximum extent and that is the reason it has came up with the celebration edition of the A4, to counter Mercedes’ C-Class Edition C, which is priced around Rs. 13 lakhs more. However the C-Class is more loaded while the A4 Celebration Edition is more like a corporate edition and thus devoid of many features.
