Audi India is planing to bring-in the S-range to India. The S-range of Audi cars are mild performance versions of the original, while the RS versions are the full blown performance version. Thus the RS range competes with BMW’s M and Mercedes-Benz’ AMG range. Thus the S-range of cars have better performance along with slight cosmetic upgrades. The upgrades to the performance is not drastic, ensuring the car still returns decent fuel efficiency and maintains its drive-ability on city roads. The first car from the S-range to arrive in India would be the S4, which will be followed by the S6 sometime later.
Audi has already brought the S4 to India, which as the name suggests is based on the A4. The German automaker has also shot a promotional clip at the Buddh International Circuit during the Audi A4 media drive. The company will surely be launching the S4 anytime soon, priced around Rs. 60 lakhs and brought via the CBU route. It is currently creating buzz on social media websites by running a vote for S4 to get it to India competition, wherein people need to tag themselves on the S4’s picture.
The Audi S4 is powered by a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine which produces 328 BHP of power and 440 Nm of torque. This enables the Audi S4 to reach 100 km/h in just 5 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h. The S4 also gets a sport suspension and 18-inch wheels which makes it sporty to drive. Other than the obvious changes, Audi has also made slight changes to the bumpers, headlights, air inlets and interiors, which differentiate the S4 visually from the A4. The Audi S4 uses the Quattro all-wheel drive system and the company claims it will return a very good mileage of around 10 km/l. The S4 is one of the three launches Audi plans to do in India this year.
