Audi has never been aggressive in the Indian market, unlike its closest rivals. The company has been content with selling lots of Q7 SUVs but has never shown interest in being the number 1 in luxury car sales. However things seem to have changed off late and Audi is heavily betting on the Indian car market. The company recently announced its intention to be at the forefront when it comes to premium cars and has charted out a plan to launch more models to broaden its portfolio. The next car to be launched sometime later this year is the new 2012 Audi A6, which will be powered by two diesel – 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI engines and two petrol – 2.0 TSI and 3.0 TFSI engines. However what is more interesting is the pricing, which is going to be right in BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class territory. With the base A6 2.0 TDI being priced at Rs. 37 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), Audi will being wooing alot of prospective buyers from its German rivals.
