Audi e-tron & e-tron Sportback Launched, Priced From Rs. 99.99 Lakhs

The car’s battery is highly protected while an aluminium bash plate adds further protection

The asking price of the Audi e-tron models range from Rs. 99.99 lakhs to Rs. 1.17 crore

Audi has launched its e-tron range of electric SUVs, the asking price of which starts from Rs. 99.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), today in India.

The models that were launched include the e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 and they will take the fight to the Mercedes EQC and the Jaguar I-Pace.

Visually, both the e-tron and e-tron Sportback look the same when viewed head-on. They come with the platinum grey ‘singleframe’ grille, sleek Matrix LED headlights and a wide air intake upfront.

However, along the sides the cars could not be more different. While the e-tron is a regular SUV, the e-tron Sportback has a sloping roofline.

At the back, there are LED lights with a simplistic bumper. Both models ride on 20 inch alloy wheels and feature orange-coloured brake calipers.

Colour options Audi offers for both cars include – Catalunya Red, Floret Silver, Galaxy Blue, Glacier White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Siam Beige and Typhoon Grey. The e-tron Sportback gets an additional Plasma Blue shade as well.

Inside, a raft of digital screens (including the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit) dominate the dashboard which has a functional layout and the leather steering wheel has paddle shifters to manually switch between recuperation stages.

The cars come with a stunning interior

Customers can choose between Black, Beige and Okapi Brown interior colours, while the e-trons are equipped with features such as a panoramic glass roof, gesture controlled boot lid, head-up display, Contour and Ambient Lighting package, Audi Phone Box with wireless charging, 360-degree camera and more.

Electric cars these days boast high power figures and the e-tron models are no exception. The cars come with dual electric motors which put out a combined 230 kW (308 HP) on the e-tron 50 and 300 kW (402 HP) on the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55.

Acceleration times are quite impressive too as the e-tron 55 and the Sportback can do the 0-100 km/hr run in 5.7 seconds, while the e-tron 50 can do the same sprint in 6.8 seconds.

The EVs have charging flaps on both sides

However, range is what buyers look for in an EV and e-tron 55 and Sportback feature a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a 359-484 km range, while the 71 kWh battery in the e-tron 50 gives it a range of 264-379 km.

Charging options include up to 11 kW AC charging and 120 kW DC charging for the e-tron 50 and DC charging up to 150 kW for the e-tron 55 and Sportback.

Early bird customers will get complimentary charging through 2021 at Audi dealerships, and in addition, Audi will offer them a complimentary wall box AC charger in addition to the standard 11 kW charger.

Audi also promises to instal over 100 chargers across 75 key cities in the country, while through the Audi Connect App, e-tron owners can access the e-tron hub which guides one on a range of functions such as avaliable charging network, charging time calculator, range calculator, and more.

Moreover, Audi has also revealed that the EVs will come with 2-year standard warranty (extendable), 8 years/1.60 lakh km battery warranty and a choice of service plans up to 5 years, 5-year roadside assistance. What’s more, there is even a buyback up to 3 years from the date of purchase.

Safety-wise, the EVs get 8 airbags, Pre-sense Basic system, and even external speakers to alert pedestrians of the car’s presence.
