In line with the showcase of the mini RSV4, Aprilia has simultaneously showcased the Tuono 150 at the Auto Expo 2018, thus creating a new segment of semi-faired performance motorcycles in the Indian market
Riding on the back of the success of its parent company Piaggio’s success, Aprilia has showcased the Tuono 150, which is extremely similar to its fully faired counterpart, the RS 150. The introduction of this motorcycle into the market would mean that those looking for a sporty yet comfortable motorcycle for touring and also run on a somewhat tight budget, can have their needs fulfilled right here.
Among the few differentiating points between the two motorcycles is the single seat that will offer additional comfort to both the rider as well as the pillion and also the semi-fairing to somewhat reduce the wind blast. The footpegs are set more towards the center which makes for a relaxed riding posture.
Specs wise, the Tuono 150 is powered by a liquid cooled, 150cc, 6-speed, fuel injected engine that belts out 18 HP at a whopping 10,000 RPM and 14 Nm at 7500 RPM. It also gets a huge 300 mm disc up front with radial 4 piston calipers and a 218 mm disc at the rear. Dual channel ABS is also offered as both brakes are coupled with a Bosch ABS unit. Suspension duties are handled by 40 mm USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. The bike gets 17-inch tyres at the front and rear of 100 mm and 130 mm section width respectively. But wait, Aprilia is also offering an accessory Quick Shifter which will enable even faster shifts and acceleration.
The motorcycle is set to be launched in the 2nd half of 2018, so we can expect it to be here around the Diwali festive season. If priced competitively, this motorcycle could be turning up the sales charts in the years to come.
