Aprilia Storm 125 has been showcased at the Auto Expo, is derived from the SR 125 scooter.
Besides launching the Storm 125 to tap the growing 125cc scooter segment in India, Aprilia has showcased the Storm 125 at the ongoing Auto Expo. Flaunting an off-roader attire, the scooter is derived from the SR 125 and shares its powertrain and other mechanicals with it. Although the company has not announced any launch timeline as yet, it is likely that the scooter will be introduced later this year after considering public response at the event.
Featuring the same bodywork as the SR 125 and SR 150 scooters, the Storm 125 gets flashy paint schemes with black graphics. Another major deviation from the existing offerings is the missing grab rail and smaller wheel size. The scooter comes with 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 120-section and 130-section dual-purpose tyres at the front and rear respectively. Suspended via telescopic forks up front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear, the Storm 125 gets a fuel tank capacity of 6.5-litres.
Powering the Aprilia Storm 125 is a 125cc, air-cooled, carburetted engine that also does duty on the SR 125 and Piaggio Vespa 125. The motor comes mated to a CVT gearbox and develops 9.5 HP of power at 7250 RPM and 9.9 Nm of torque at 6250 RPM. Braking is performed by a 220 mm disc brake at the front and 140 mm drum brake at the rear. One of the showcased model featured a large windshield at the front which could be a part of optional accessories.
