The Aprilia SR 150 sports scooter is going to start retailing in the Indian market soon with an attractive price tag of Rs. 65,000/-. The Aprilia SR 150 boasts of features such as a twin-pod instrument console, telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock.
Aprilia is a relatively unknown name in the Indian two-wheeler market with no mass market products on offer. The company though resolves to change all of that with a surprise entry into the highest selling gearless scooter segment in the country. The Piaggio owned Italian superbike marquee is all set to launch the SR 150 ‘sports scooter’ later this month in India and has commenced production of the crossover bike.
The Aprilia SR 150 is an interesting product which promises to add some sporty undertones to a segment which is filled with mundane commuter offerings. The Italian company which is primarily known only for its superbikes is all set to enter a market which will ensure large amount of footfalls in the company’s showrooms. The company also seems to have played all of its cards right as it has priced the Aprilia SR 150 very well with a tag of Rs. 65,000/- (ex-showroom, Pune).
The Aprilia SR 150 brandishes a European design that is edgy and contemporary, making it an instant hit among youngsters. Aprilia has equipped the SR 150 with a twin-headlight unit embedded in the front apron while the indicators are mounted on the handlebar. Suspension duties are taken care by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
The scooter stands on 14-inch wheels with 120/70 section tyres at both ends. The Aprilia SR 150 draws its power from a 154cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor which puts out 11.5 PS of power and peak torque of 11.5 Nm. It is available in matte black and white colours and bookings are now open, one can also book through Paytm.com.
The scooter will be exclusively available at Motoplex showrooms and Vespa dealerships across the country. Unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, the SR 150 is Aprilia’s second scooter offering after the SRV850, for the Indian two-wheeler market. It is the first product by Aprilia to be manufactured in India at parent company Piaggio’s production plant in Baramati.
