The asking price of the Aprilia RS 660 is Rs. 30,000/- more than the Tuono 660
Piaggio India has launched the much-awaited Aprilia RS 660 in India with a price tag of Rs. 13.39 lakhs (ex-showroom), today. The Aprilia Tuono 660 has also been introduced in the market and it costs Rs. 13.09 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Although both bikes share the same heart and several other components, they have their own character. The RS 660 is the fully-faired model, while the Tuono 660 is the roadster derivative that still sports a bit of front bodywork.
Aprilia RS 660 –
It was with the RS 660 that the Italian firm’s new design language made its debut. Subsequently, the brand’s flagship, the RSV4 adopted the styling as well.
Available in Acid Gold, Apex Black and Lava Red colours, the middleweight machine has the triple headlight setup, a muscular fuel tank, crisp lines and a truly unique design.
It is powered by a 659cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor putting out 98.6 BHP at 10,500 RPM and 67 Nm at 8500 RPM.
Weighing 183 kg with a 15-litre fuel tank, the RS 660 sports 41 mm inverted Kayaba front fork (adjustable for rebound, compression and spring pre-load) with 120 mm travel, while the rear monoshock is adjustable for rebound and pre-load with 130 mm travel.
The braking comprises 320 mm double discs with 4-piston Brembo radial calipers up front and a 220 mm rear disc with 2-piston Brembo caliper and ABS assist.
But, what makes this bike stand out from other middleweights is its Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) electronics suite that works with a 6-axis IMU. The system includes traction control, wheelie control, engine brake, engine mapping, cruise control and 5 riding modes.
Aprilia Tuono 660 –
Built on a diecast aluminium frame with an aluminium swingarm, twin-cylinder is available in Acid Gold, Concept Black and Iridium Grey paint options.
Like its fully-faired sibling, it is powered by a 659cc motor. But, in the Tuono, the engine makes 93.7 BHP at 10,500 RPM and 67 Nm at 8500 RPM. Aprilia says it weighs the same as the RS 660 at 183 kg and at 15 litres, its fuel holding capacity is identical too.
In addition, to having the same set of electronics as the RS, the Tuono also has the same suspension, but with adjustability only for extension and pre-load and the front wheel travel is limited at 110 mm.
