The Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150, which were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, will now be launched in India only in 2020.
Aprilia unveiled the RS 150 and Tuono 150 at this year’s Auto Expo and both the bikes received splendid response. The bikes share their styling with their larger counterparts and the styling itself would have been one of the major USPs of these bikes.
It was expected that these bikes will be launched in India in the later part of 2018 or in early 2019 but now it has been confirmed by Aprilia officials that the launch of these 2 motorcycles has been pushed to 2020.
Aprilia is still studying the market to see the potential for such bikes. These bikes get features like a perimeter frame, swingarm, 40 mm USD fork, monoshock, 300 mm and 218 mm discs at the front and rear respectively and ABS. With this, it could be difficult for Aprilia to price the bikes competitively to compete with the likes of the Yamaha R15 V3.
Both the bikes get a 150cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine producing 18 HP and 14 Nm. It is also possible that Aprilia might plonk in a bigger engine and position the bikes in a higher segment. Apart from the R15, the RS 150 and Tuono 150 will also compete with the KTM Duke and RC 200.
