Skoda Slavia becomes the highest selling D-segment sedan in April 2022, Maruti Suzuki sales go down
In April 2022, there were surprising twists and turns in the sedan sales with new entrants dethroning the existing popular models. Most action took place in the C-segment with huge rises and falls.

In the B-segment, as usual, Maruti Suzuki Dzire became the top seller although it was the only 1 to register double-digit de-growth. Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor followed the Dzire. While all the 3 registered growth, it was the Tigor which has more than doubled it sales YoY.

It was the C-segment which was action-packed in April. For the first time, Skoda Slavia has dethroned Honda City to become the highest selling C-segment sedan in the country.
It has sold over 2500 units in April. Though Honda City closed followed the Slavia with 2300 units sold, it registered a double-digit YoY de-growth.
Shockingly, both Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz couldn’t even sell 1000 units with both registering more than 60 percent de-growth. Volkswagen Vento, as usual, came last in the segment with just 2-digit sales.

In the D-segment, Skoda Octavia not only became the best seller but also registered an impressive 2840 percent growth when compared to last year. On the other hand, Hyundai Elentra couldn’t find even a single home.

Finally, in the entry-level luxury sedan segment, Toyota Camry came on top registering 129 unit sales thanks to the update it received at the start of the year. Skoda Superb came second selling 74 units.
