Honda has launched the Amaze facelift which gets a few changes and we take a look at how it stacks against its rivals in a quick price comparison.
The compact sedan segment is one of the most popular car segments in India. Goes without saying, the competition in the segment is fierce too. The Maruti Swift DZire leads the pack by a huge margin but the rest of the contenders fight it out to gain volumes. To improve sales numbers, Honda has updated the Amaze with a few changes.
In terms of looks, the Figo Aspire beats the other cars hands down. It has the most proportionate design out of this lot and the boot doesn’t look like an afterthought. The Amaze gets subtle changes to the exteriors which add a touch of freshness to the package. Suddenly, the Hyundai Xcent has become the oldest car in the segment despite it not being too old.
Moving on to the interiors, it is the Hyundai Xcent which has the most premium looking interiors. In terms of features, the Xcent and Figo Aspire are closely matched. The Honda Amaze gets a new dashboard design which looks much better than the outgoing one. In terms of engines, it is the Maruti Swift DZire which has the best petrol motor whereas the best diesel is housed in the Ford Figo Aspire.
In terms of safety, the Ford has you covered as it offers six airbags on the top-end variant which no other car offers. All the sedans come with a choice of an automatic gearbox with their petrol engines but only the Maruti Swift DZire and Tata Zest have an option of AMT gearbox with diesel engine. In terms of pricing, the American sedan is slightly more expensive than the Honda Amaze but offers a lot more for the price.
