Almost Production Ready Ford Figo Unveiled In Europe

Ford has officially unveiled the next generation Ka in Europe at a special event in Barcelona, Spain. The company announced that the car will be launched in Europe in 2015. The Ford Ka will replace the compact hatchback, the Figo as the direct successor. This new Ka comes with clever design and advanced technology at an affordable price. The styling is very much in line with the company’s design language. The front grille with four slats of chrome bears obvious resemblance to Aston Martin cars. The vehicle looks very dynamic with sleek headlamps and sharp bonnet lines.

The new Ka will be sold as the Figo in some markets and the recent unveil shows the vehicle isn’t far from launch. The 2015 Ford Figo will feature SYNC system with voice command, MyFord Dock which enables the passengers to store, charge and mount devices such as mobile phones and GPS navigation system and also AppLink to access the applications directly. These features make it more convenient for the customers to access technology while on the move.

The second generation Ford Figo unveiled in the presence of 2500 dealers and media representatives looked more production-ready than compared to the concept version unveiled earlier by the company in Brazil. The LED headlamps have been replaced by halogen bulbs and the alloys on the display car are 15-inch in dimension. The interiors will take a leaf or two out of the EcoSport and Fiesta.

The Ford Ka has managed to sell nearly 1.8 million cars since it was first launched back in 1996. The company has made projections that the small car segment will grow by at least 35 percent in 2017 with 6.2 million units when compared to the 4 million units sold in 2012. The engine options that could be available in the Indian market are the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine and the 1.5-litre TDCI turbo diesel engine. The car has been designed such that it gives a sensation of movement even while it is stationary and is developed at its technology centre in Brazil. The new Figo will be a part of the “One Ford” strategy and will be offered in various global markets. For now, we can expect this car to be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo in India.
