Sweden-based automaker Volvo has revealed the new S90 sedan that has a nice design and shares its interiors and engine with the XC90.
Volvo has always been known to produce some of the most gorgeous and understated cars. Their sedans as well as SUVs have always been pleasant to the eye and most of them age very well. The Swedish automaker has now revealed the S90 premium sedan in pictures and the car looks beautiful. The headlights come with a striking design and you just cannot miss the Thor hammer which we saw earlier on the XC90 too. The bumper has a sharp and neat design while the overall front fascia looks cool.
The side profile of the Volvo S90 is simple and clutter-free and this thing really works. The sedan gets a nice and rich appeal. The rear is again simple and the vehicle gets the trademark Volvo tail lights. The 8-spoke alloy wheels complement the design of the S90 nicely. The same classy theme has been carried over to the interiors too. The dashboard is quite similar to the XC90 and this car too is going to be loaded with a lot of tech wizardry.
The Volvo S90 Twin-Engine Plug-in Hybrid will offer a total of 394 HP of power combined from a 2.0-litre supercharged petrol engine producing 316 HP of power and an 80 HP electric motor and a 46 HP crankshaft-mounted starter generator. The S90 gets an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. The vehicle will also come with Pilot Assist, which is an advanced semi-autonomous system that debuted on the XC90.
The Pilot Assist feature can keep the vehicle aligned with lane markings on highways at speeds of upto 130 km/hr. The City Safety package on the S90 gets a new feature called Large Animal Detection which detects horses, elk or moose in day and night driving conditions. The system comes with an intuitive warning first and brake support that helps avoid a collision. The S90 will make its public debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2016 and Volvo might just showcase it at the 2016 Auto Expo here. The flagship Volvo sedan will rival the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF with an India launch set for next year, coming via the CBU route.
