The all-new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport reveal, if anything, shows the brand’s aim to not rest on its laurels.
Built on the latest generation Tiger platform, the bike, according to its maker combines ‘tailor-made’ performance and specification set-up, designed to deliver a road-focused adventure riding capability.
Featuring a modular frame and aluminium subframe, the bike has the distinctive styling that Tiger models are known for. It gets a visually light front, looks narrow, has a large fuel tank, new graphics and detailing that befits an adventure-oriented motorcycle.
Colour options are just two and they are Graphite and Diablo Red and Graphite and Caspian Blue.
The bikemaker claims that the Tiger 850 Sport has ergonomically optimised footrest position, adjustable seat height mechanism (two positions), while there is also an adjustable screen.
Equipment-wise, the new Tiger 850 Sport features all LED lighting, 5-inch TFT digital cluster, 12 V power socket, ABS, switchable traction control, riding modes, Marzocchi suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes.
Triumph has cheekily used the Tiger 900’s engine for the new 850 Sport as well, but claims the engine has its own tune. The 888cc triple makes a maximum of 84 BHP at 8500 RPM and 82 Nm peak torque at 6500 RPM.
Claimed to provide a smooth and linear power and torque delivery right from low engine speeds and across the rev range, the motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.
Two riding modes, namely ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ are offered with the bike that adjust the ride-by-wire throttle response and traction control (switchable) settings for enhanced control in all riding conditions.
As mentioned above, the bike comes with Marzocchi suspension, with 45 mm USD forks upfront (180 mm travel) and a gas pressurised monoshock rear suspension unit with manually adjustable preload (170 mm travel).
A range of over 60 genuine Triumph accessories are available for the new Tiger 850 Sport covering options for added comfort, protection, capability, style and security, while there are two luggage range options available as well.
The bike is expected to hit the Indian shores early next year.
