The 2015 Hero Passion will get some major upgrades to the styling, while power will come from a Hero developed 125cc engine.
Hero MotoCorp will have an aggressive 2015 with a slew of new launches planned across different segments. While the Indian two-wheeler giant plans to have completely new products added to its lineup, it will also be updating its existing range with new variants and improved mechanicals on offer. As seen in the spy shots here snapped by our friends at Gaadiwaadi, the company is testing a new version of the Passion motorcycle that could employ a host of changes to the design, while the engine will be a completely new 125cc unit developed in-house by Hero (with help from its international partners of course).
The 2015 Hero Passion 125 spied here was carrying 6-spoke alloy wheels, digital speedometer, revised headlight cluster, smoked tail light as well as a golden matte shade. The overall design however continues to be conservative and commuterish as seen on the outgoing model. Coming to the powertrain, the new 125cc engine is expected to offer improved levels of power and torque along with higher fuel efficiency figures. The newly developed motor will also power the upcoming 125cc scooter also expected to be launched this year.
While the HX250R continues to be Hero’s most awaited product in 2015, the company is aggressively working on its new range of commuters in a bid to expand market share. The new Passion 125 could hit the market in the second half of this year and will compete against erstwhile partner Honda’s Shine 125, TVS Phoenix 125, Bajaj Discover 125, Yamaha YBR 125 and the likes in the segment. While the company currently retails the Glamour 125 in the same space, the new model could be positioned along side as a marginally less expensive alternative. A premium price tag over the Passion Pro 110 however is naturally expected on the new model.
