Just recently the exteriors of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki sedan (codenamed YL1) got revealed by our friends at Team-BHP. Now they are gradually revealing more details of the upcoming offering and this time we get a sneak peek of the interiors. From the snapshots, you can find an impressive new design language on the interiors which looks premium and unlike Maruti. There are a few bits trickling down from the Swift family such as the door handles, steering wheel and window switches but the carmaker has changed the overall styling of the dashboard extensively.
The floating central console with black and beige dual tone treatment would remind you of the Hyundai Verna to a great extent. For a premium touch, the manufacturer has added broad wood inserts on the dashboard. From the looks of the interiors, we feel that the fit and finish quality of the interiors is a notch up from what we find on the current Maruti lineup. The factory fitted audio system is equipped with Bluetooth, which can be controlled via the steering column mounted (Duster like) controls, which you can see on the left hand side.
There are separate steering mounted controls also for the audio system. The Maruti YL1 sedan gets automatic climate control and is likely to get rear AC vents as standard on higher variants. There will be provision of a sunglass holder, height adjustable steering and a dead pedal. The sedan will get disc brakes up front with drum brakes at the rear. In terms of safety, ABS and EBD with twin airbags will be on offer on the high end variants of the YL1. It is said to be 100 kgs lighter than equivalent variants of the Maruti SX4. So we can expect a decent power to weight ratio which will lead to good performance and mileage.
