The much-awaited Abarth Punto will finally be launched by the second week of October and bookings for the vehicle have already begun at certain dealerships.
Fiat unveiled the Abarth Punto in India exactly a month back and now it has come to light that bookings for the vehicle have finally begun. The Abarth Punto is expected to be launched around 10th October and Fiat Caffe outlets are accepting bookings for a sum of Rs. 20,000/-. The booking amount is completely refundable if one chooses to cancel their booking. The vehicle will be priced at approximately Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom) and hence on-road prices will come up to Rs. 11-11.5 lakhs, depending on the state of registration. There will be only one variant of the Abarth Punto on offer.
The Fiat Punto Evo is a great looker and the Abarth Punto takes things to the next level. The hot hatch has minor styling chnages over its sibling that make it look meaner and sporty. The car also has eye-catching alloys that gel well with the overall theme of the car. The vehicle gets contrast coloured ORVMs, grille and also ABARTH decals on the body. The alloys are wrapped in 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres. The performance hatchback also gets its ground clearance reduced by 20 mm. The interiors are quite similar to the Punto Evo but get certain changes like Scorpion logos, sports pedals and contrast stitching on the seats.
Powering the Abarth Punto is a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine that produces 145 HP of power while torque is a notch above 200 Nm. The suspension set up has been made stiffer and braking has also been improved since the vehicle is big on performance. The Abarth Punto will also get dual front airbags and ABS as standard. Fiat wants to change its brand perception in the country and the automaker will also use the Abarth Punto as a weapon to make that happen. The hot hatch will fight it out with the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
