Back with a bang! Tata Motors is all set to launch the Zest compact sedan in the country and will be the automaker’s first new product to be launched after a gap of five years. As a replacement to the Manza sedan, the Zest packs in a new design language, equipment and features along with potent engine options. While the 1.3-litre QuadraJet diesel motor has been retained, the Indica maker has also included the home-grown Revotron petrol motor under the hood that comes with three driving modes namely City, Eco and Sport. With the launch scheduled for August, we take a candid look at the Zest in the pictures below.

The new dual-tone interiors look very premium and the dashboard packs a host of equipment including a Harman infotainment system
The white illumination makes the cluster easy to read and the MID screen displays all the vital information of the car
The Zest sports a wheelbase of 2470 mm providing ample space inside the cabin that sees a major revamp compared to Tata’s outgoing models
The Tata Zest comes with a 390-litre boot and the vehicle replaces the Manza sedan
The F-Tronic AMT gearbox is available on the diesel model and has been sourced from Magneti Marelli
The Revotron engine produces 90 PS of power and has been self-developed by Tata, with 3 driving modes on offer
The 1.3-litre QuadraJet diesel produces 90 PS and 200 Nm and is also paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox
The front sports projector headlamps, fog lamps with LED DRLs, while ORVMs come with integrated turn indicators
The boot is very well integrated and the design of the front and rear is in sync
The Zest tucks under the 4-metre mark making it eligibile for lower excise duties and comes with LED equipped tail lights
The compact sedan will compete against the Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent in the segment when launched in August this year
