The Ford Figo was launched in India in 2010. The vehicle came with its own positives and negatives and Ford was bashed by many for deleting essential features like rear power windows, alloy wheels, etc. But still, the Ford Figo was a cut above its rivals when it came to driving dynamics, handling, comfort, etc. and went on to receive many awards from leading publications across India. Now, Ford has displayed the Most Awarded Car In India i.e. Figo at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Ford had given a minor facelift to the Figo in 2013 to keep it looking fresh and now the manufacturer has made some more changes to the Figo. The automaker has introduced two new colours for this hatchback – Mars Red from the EcoSport and Paprika Red from the Fiesta. Bright Yellow and Colorado Red have now been discontinued. Ford has also incorporated a new Driver Information System that displays Distance-To-Empty and average fuel economy. The vehicle also gets speed sensing volume controls.
A significant new addition to the 2014 Ford Figo is the availability of WiFi. The WiFi option is available at a cost of Rs. 10,000/- and it can be added to any variant of the vehicle. It consists of a WiFi dongle in which you need to insert a 3G-enabled SIM card so that all the passengers can access WiFi. If you opt for the WiFi package you also get blue LED interior lights and black seat covers. The 2014 Ford Figo is priced from Rs. 4.03 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Ford Figo is available with two engine options – 1.2-litre DuraTec petrol and 1.4-litre DuraTorq diesel. Both the motors are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Figo passed the global NCAP test and Ford has gone ahead and made front airbags standard on the Titanium variants (both standard and option pack trims). The Ford Figo starts at Rs. 3.97 lakhs for the base LXI petrol variant and Rs. 4.95 lakhs for the base LXI diesel variant.
Ford has also displayed the Classic at the Auto Expo. The Classic is the previous generation Fiesta which Ford is still selling under a new name and at a lower price. The Classic is available with two engine options – 1.6-litre DuraTec petrol and 1.4-litre TDCi diesel. The Ford Classic is priced between Rs. 4.99 – 7.59 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
