Mahindra first showcased the Mojo 300 prototype at the previous Auto Expo in 2012, and while the company’s first outing didn’t go well in the market, the Mojo too suffered a setback. Nonetheless, the company showcased its flagship motorcycle with a series of updates and design changes at the Auto Expo, with plans to launch the bike around June this year.
The updated Mahindra Mojo 300 retains its naked look and styling cues. The twin headlights now receive a body shell of their own. The bike now looks more original rather than a Triumph replica from front. The rest of the styling is largely the same as seen on the bike, and will surely appeal to the buyers. The wide handle also makes for an upright riding stance, and should be good for those looking at touring. The motorcycle features a digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer, with a shift light and low fuel indicator. Mahindra has retained the trademark horizontal bars done up in a shade of copper.
The Mojo 300 is powered by a 295cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder engine capable of producing 28 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 25 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while fuel is fed through an ECU controlled fuel injection system. The alloy wheels are wrapped with 17-inch Pirelli Demon Tyres, while stopping power comes from disc brakes. A lot of technology on the bike has come from Mahindra’s MotoGP racing team, which will aid in performance, handling, ergonomics and design of the bike.
Mahindra also showcased the Mojo 300 race version. The bike features a two-toned white and red paint scheme from Mahindra racing and while the performance figures are not out yet, the race version is sure to be track scorcher. The bike gets race spec exhaust, sticky tyres and an upgrade to the 295cc engine.
Mahindra Mojo 300 will be launched by June this year, while prices will be declared nearing the date. Expect the motorcycle to carry a price tag of Rs. 1.5 lakhs and will be competing against the KTM Duke 390, Honda CBR250R and the Ninja 300 when launched.
