It is a known fact that Hyundai is developing a compact SUV for the mass market and this new vehicle will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. It is also a known fact that Hyundai has vehicles in almost every segment and the ix25 will mark the Korean automaker’s debut in the compact SUV space. Apparently, this segment has been seeing a great demand in many countries throughout the globe which includes India too. Hyundai surely doesn’t want to be left behind and hence they are readying the ix25 to give some sleepless nights to its competitors.
The Hyundai ix25 mini-SUV will be around 4-metres in length. If Hyundai manages to keep the total length below 4-metres then the vehicle will avail tax benefits from the Indian Government which would help the manufacturer price it aggressively. The wheelbase is around 2570 mm and the ix25 shares its platform with its sibling i20. In the picture of the body shell, we can see that Hyundai has styled the ix25 nicely and the vehicle features a sporty looking design that would greatly appeal to buyers. Many of you will find the side profile looking similar to the Maruti Suzuki Swift or Skoda Fabia.
In the bottom part of the body, Hyundai will mount body cladding on the doors and wheel arches which will make the vehicle look more sturdy and SUV-ish. There is also a small integrated spoiler above the rear windshield which looks neat. Coming to the windows, there is one window in each door and no quarter panel glasses can be seen. Hyundai will offer the ix25 with the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.4-litre CRDI diesel engine since these engines would get tax benefits. There is also a possibility of the company giving more powerful engines from the Verna on the top variants of the ix25. The Hyundai ix25 will debut in October this year.
