Suzuki Motorcycles India showcased the Let’s scooter at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. The scooter is targeted towards the hip and peppy youth with its brand ambassador Parineeti Chopra. Suzuki is playing offensive this year and has launched its capable products in different segments. The Inazuma 250 and the Gixxer 155cc motorcycles are also present at the expo.
Coming to the scooter, the entry-level two-wheeler was christened Let’s making it sound more attractive to the youth (FYI – I am 21 and I have no idea what that means). The scooter measures 1810 mm in length, 660 mm in width and 1120 mm in height, while the ground clearance is 160 mm. With a wheelbase of 1250 mm, Let’s can carry the rider and the pillion in reasonable comfort. The Let’s body shell is formed out of plastic, keeping the weight and costs in check.
The styling remains rather conservative compared to the Yamaha Ray with soft lines and a leaner appearance and on par with the Honda Activa-i. The scooter receives a complete analogue instrument cluster and comes with decent quality switches. There isn’t any storage space provided in front, making way for more legroom. The under seat storage on the other hand is decent, but not big enough for a full sized helmet.
The Let’s scooter is powered by a 112cc single cylinder engine capable of producing 8.7 HP of power at 7500 RPM and 9 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. This is essentially the same engine found on the Hayate as well, however Suzuki has introduced the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) on this engine that makes the majority of the difference. The scooter uses telescopic front forks and 120 mm drum brakes at the front and rear tyres. Weighing at just 98 kgs, the scooter makes a very healthy power to weight ratio, making it a zippy ride in the city.
The entry-level scooter rides on 90/100/10 tubeless tyres on the front and rear. Suzuki has provided the Let’s scooter with a fuel tank capacity of 5.2-litres and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 63 km/l.
The scooter is being offered in 5 colours namely blue, black, silver, white and red. Let’s will be competing against the Honda Activa-i and the Dio, the Yamaha Ray and the TVS Scooty who have been leading this popular scooter segment in the country. Suzuki is also working upon expanding its dealerships from the existing 600 to 1000 outlets that will handle the sales and service of its entire range of two-wheelers.
