Of late we are seeing many spyshots of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio facelift (codename S-594) every week as the 2014 Auto Expo gets closer, where the Indian automaker will unveil the Scorpio facelift. These pictures of the completely camouflaged Scorpio facelift were taken on the NH8 near Jaipur. If you notice, one of these pictures of the rear profile reveals LED tail lights on the updated SUV. A few days back we saw interior shots of the Scorpio facelift, which revealed some elements shared from the XUV500. So, Mahindra is expected to introduce a prominent facelift of the Scorpio with new features, fresh interiors and refurbished exteriors.
The front end of the Scorpio facelift will get a new set of headlamps featuring projector lights and LED DRLs, following the latest trend. The grille will be reworked along with a new front bumper. We can expect some changes on the side profile as well, most probably new body cladding. The rear section, as we mentioned above, will get new LED tail lights along with a redesigned tail gate. On the interiors of the updated Scorpio, you will get to see a new dashboard and XUV500 derived steering wheel along with a host of new features.
Considering the fact that there will be many changes on the 2014 Mahindra Scorpio, we can expect Mahindra to address the issues of the current Scorpio. For instance, the ride quality of the Scorpio is quite bouncy at high speeds and there is a fair bit of body roll, which the manufacturer should consider revising. The engine options will remain the same for the new version. Recently, the Mahindra Scorpio has started facing stiff competition from compact SUVs. Despite the stiff competition, the Scorpio continues to sell in good numbers because of its popularity in rural areas. We can expect a boost in its sales with the entry of the facelifted version.
Mahindra will launch the next generation Scorpio in 2016, that’s a whooping 14 years for one single generation. All this is possible as the Scoprio has enjoyed little competition in most part of its life cycle. With global players entering this segment, Mahindra really has to work hard to ensure the all new Scorpio is a worthy contender in the SUV space.
