2013 Ford Classic Handling

Ford has been in the news for the wrong reasons off late with almost everything being related to the EcoSport. First the company subtracted a few features from the Titanium trim (push button start) and then the company wasn’t able to meet demand for their compact SUV, leading to a massive delay in deliveries. In fact many people who had booked their car post launch are yet to get it and the waiting period can extend up to a year. If this wasn’t enough, Ford hiked prices of the EcoSport yet again earlier this week and there isn’t any price protection for buyers either.

Ford might get away with all this as the EcoSport is a very popular car and buyers are ready to put these things aside to get their compact SUVs as soon as they can. However the EcoSport is the only Ford car in India which has tasted such immense success and now the company is turning its focus on other models. The next big event from the American automaker is the unveil of the next generation Figo, likely around the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. The all new Ford Figo will also spawn a compact sedan which will replace the Classic.

In order to boost sales of the Ford Classic, the American automobile company has slashed prices of the car. The Ford Classic range now starts from Rs. 4.99 lakhs, going up to Rs. 7.6 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a price reduction of Rs. 70,000 to a lakh and seems like the company is preparing to face stiff competition from Hyundai’s upcoming Grand i10 based compact sedan. The entry level Ford Classic is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine which makes it a compelling buy for performance enthusiasts. Now Ford is likely to reposition the Fiesta to take on the newly launched Honda City.
