The Indica Vista and Indigo Manza have been around for a long time and now both are set for a replacement. It is a known fact that the new Vista has been codenamed Falcon 4 whereas the new Manza has been codenamed Falcon 5. We had reported some time back that even though Tata Motors might claim both of these to be all new cars, they are going to be nothing but re-engineered versions of the current models. Tata Motors has designed the new vehicles at their European design facility.
Tata vehicles are known for average quality of fit and finish and Karl Slym, MD of Tata Motors had made it clear recently that the company now wants to improve the quality of their products after implementing the HORIZONEXT program. A Tata Falcon 4 test mule was recently spotted with heavy camouflage but it is still easy to ascertain that the new Vista will have a similar body style as the current Vista. Looking at the pictures, it is clear that the headlights are similar to the outgoing version. The new vehicle will also have the usual Tata family grille.
Coming to the interiors, the first thought that came to our minds when we saw the picture was “Are they inspired by the i20?” The side AC vents, the top dashboard part above the audio system and the bottom part of the steering wheel surely make it seem so. Tata has used a combination of black, beige and silver (looks white in the picture due to lighting) and it gives out a premium feel and looks much better than the previous full-beige. The steering wheel also has a new design but the gear knob is the same as the current Vista. The most significant change is the re-positioning of the instrument cluster from the middle of the dashboard to behind the steering wheel.
The tail lamps have also been re-designed but the alloy wheels look similar to the current ones found on the Manza. It is expected that the Manza replacement will also get similar interiors. The Falcon 4 and Falcon 5 are just code names and Tata Motors will launch both the new vehicles with new names to get rid of the Indica and Indigo image. The company will showcase the new vehicles at the 2014 Auto Expo and the launch will be held sometime in the second quarter of the year. Both the cars will come with the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine from Fiat as well as a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit.
Currently, the Tata Vista is priced between Rs. 4.67-6.83 lakhs and the Manza is priced between Rs. 5.92-8.27 lakhs. All the prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
