Yamaha India has confirmed it will launch a brand new product in the first week of January next year. Come this 7th of January and we can expect a new scooter or motorcycle to be added to the company’s lineup. Yamaha has so far been tight lipped about the specific product that will be launched on the mentioned date leaving us no option but to speculate for now. Clearly, a 4-stroke RX100 or the RD350 is out of question for now.
The Yamaha R25 was recently unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. However, the company showcased only the concept version of the bike and the production version would be launched in India only by late 2014. This bike is powered by a 249cc twin-cylinder motor that is liquid-cooled. We also understand that this bike will be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo in India. With the launch of the Yamaha R25 out of question, we can expect the company to launch a new scooter. Yamaha has managed to seize 5 percent of the scooter market in India in under a year after the successful launches of its scooters, the Ray and Ray Z.
Update – Yamaha is not launching a new product on 7th January, 2014. The company is making a corporate announcement on the said date which will relate to the brand (could be a new brand ambassador or something). Yamaha will launch new products in 2014 and we expect the Japanese automaker to showcase the same at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. At last year’s Auto Expo, the company showcased its first scooter for India, the Ray.
