W Motors which is a Beirut-based car company released images and details of its second offering, the all-new Lykan Supersport. The Lykan Supersport is the second offering from the company apart from the Lykan Hypercar which was launched in January 2013 at the International Qatar Motor Show although it abjures various flashy features like diamond-encrusted headlights, gold stitching and holographic display of its stable companion. The Lykan Hypersport is expected to be incredible to drive whereas the performance characteristics of the Lykan Supersport will sure be mind-boggling in comparison.
The Lykan Supersport is powered by the same RUF-developed 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine which propels the Lykan Hypercar although the power output has been bumped up from 740 BHP to 981 BHP. The car has a kerb weight of just 1200 kgs which is 235 kgs less than even the Koenigsegg Agera. The Lykan Hypercar does a 0-100 km/hr dash within a sub 3 second timeframe and achieves a top speed of 395 km/hr and one can only imagine what the performance on the more powerful Lykan Supersport will be.
Only 7 units of the Lykan Hypercar will be sold while 25 units of the Lykan Supersport will be produced making these cars much more exclusive as compared to the Bugatti Veyron. W Motors is still finalising on the design front which could result in changes to the specifications ahead of the launch scheduled for 2015. The company intends to implement hybrid technologies such as Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) so as to provide ultra high performance with reduced emissions. The car is expected to be priced in lines with the Bugatti Veyron at $1.7 million (Rs. 10.8 crore, ex-showroom). The Arabian sportscar manufacturer headquartered in Dubai will definitely find takers given the fact that exclusivity is the key when it comes to luxury.
